Double Wave Platter from Sycamore

Size - D 42cm x H 4cm 

Finish - Hard Wax Oil 

A new form. A simple and graphic waved detail which corresponds on both sides of the object. Some really beautiful pale grain through this piece. 

Treated with a food safe product so would be perfect for fruit or a decorative table centrepiece.  

Sourced from trees that had to be felled a few years ago in our woodland. Unfortunately this one had become dangerous but it has yielded some incredible material. 

I have been saving this blank for quite some time, not knowing quite what to do with it as it is rare for me to get such a large piece of sycamore. The double wave idea is an obvious progression from my previous work and I knew I had the perfect piece to execute my plan. 

The soft tones of the sycamore matched with the gentle waves gives it such a calming and serene presence. 

 All pieces are stamped with my makers mark, a very subtle ‘H’ on the underside so as to not detract from the beauty of the object.
